Ann 16/100 - Alan

Alan was staffing the Sydney Festival booth at Circular Quay. He was busy giving out information but more than happy to be photographed. He gave me his card and asked me to email him the shots. I had a look at his card this morning - he's an artist and photographer.

Ha! Sucked In! I'm sure he'll be happy with the result though. I liked this shot immediately; after a short while I noticed that my eyes kept coming back to the set of his mouth. Then I realised his eyes appear to have healed over!

It's interesting, as there's something about the composition which allows you to get away with the lack of visible eyes.

I took several others, full head, head and shoulders, context, but I kept coming back to this one, it just works.

Yep, this one works for me, too. The glasses are important as is the set of the mouth. Love the neck crinkles ...

The expression here is terrific. Tells its own story of concentration.

Your story reminds me of the time I invited a stranger at church home for lunch ... burnt it badly, in fact the worst meal I have ever served ... then found out he was a chef.
