Once I took one, all the kids wanted their photo taken. Unfortunately very few came out. Taken in the National Museum of Kenya.

Ann - Zambia - Lion Walk (1)

The lion walk has to be one of the most amazing things I've ever done. My group walked with two 13 months old females and you had to keep reminding yourself they were wild animals as they were exhibiting normal cat behaviour and wanted to flop down in the shade and sleep or play with each other, just like big pussy cats. Then you looked at their paws and teeth and reminded yourself that, playing or not, they could still take your face off with one swipe.

If you want to read more about the Lion Walk, volunteer work or lion conservation and release program have a look here - Lion ALERT. The walk I did was the recently established one in Livingstone, Zambia.

Ann - Namibia - Herero Woman (4)

This woman was one of only two or three in the village wearing non traditional clothing. We were told she is Herero, not Himba.

Ann - Namibia - Himba Queen

This is the Queen of the village - the Chief's first wife and a very important person judging by the way she was treated.

Ann - Namibia - Himba King

This man is the village Chief who was described to us as the King. I don't know if these are his kids or some of the orphans that have been taken in and are being raised by the village.
