Ann - Namibia - Himba Woman (2)

She has lovely facial features and I think I can detect a little bit of shyness in the body language.

That head and neck wear is intruiging. Is it the roots of a vine or the shell of a crab? Do they live inland or on the coast?

They are desert dwellers (mud huts) from the far north of Namibia, the red colour is the red soil mixed I think with fat, it works as a sunscreen as well as for beautification. The jewellery seems to be leather or hair and seeds. I bought a little necklace from the young girl you will see later in the week that is made from seeds, leather and beads.

These women are really beautiful and interesting. I love the head dresses.
