Alison and Davina, two school friends, were on a quest to find and play all the Sydney Festival pianos in the city. I met them in Cook and Phillip Park. At first Alison was playing while Davina sang, then they both sang while she played. It was just beautiful. Alison could really play and she'd only been playing for two years, but she did say that she practices a lot. For an explanation of why the pianos are scattered round the city see Julie's Sydney Eye.These are the rejects. I was going to use the other close up but a) couldn't decide between colour or b&w and b) even though she isn't looking at the camera there is something I like about the other shot. The third shot is very much my comfort zone. Unfortunately the close ups are a little blurred, not sure if she moved, I shook a little, or its the camera.

Charming! I thought at first I preferred the "singing" shot better, but have since decided your choice was impeccable!
As for the "blur". The shutter speed was 1/200 so unless you had a really bad case of the shakes it probably wasn't you!
When using our little point and shoot, I often used to take the shot before it was focussed. After reading a bit about your camera, it's quite slow at focussing, so maybe if you take a deep breath and wait a fraction longer for the thing to beep or the frame to go green? I hope that doesn't sound "thingy", it's just that I do that often!
Of course it may be that the camera can't focus that close? Perhaps it's time to check it against an inanimate object.
Good portfolio of shots, Ann. A bit of each type and you have ventured again into B&W. Yesterdays B&W worked (IMO) because of the variety in the background which emphasised the glasses perched too hight on his ears. This one did not come up with anything extra.
It is interesting just to take our own label and see what we had done over the last week. As JE indicates, we are pushing our own boundaries.
I am now officially enjoying this project.
I'm enjoying the photography side, not the talking side.
