Julie (86/100) - Voice Master Class - first sop

I knew this was a high risk shot: Irene, being the trouper she is, was not apparently phased by my in-your-faceness. Looks like I focussed on the arm of the spectacle. I have more shots of Irene than anyone else, save the Musical Director (coming up on Thursday). Irene is a small woman who packs a punch; her movements are short and sharp, like those of a small finch - always on the alert. Trying to pin the focus down was beyond my skill set.

Interesting. From that close-up, I would never have guessed she looked like the photos below. More delicate, and she does look bird-like.

Can you manual focus with your camera?

There is an MF button on the front of the camera just above the Macro button. I could RTFM I guess ... I changed the focus from the Function button just the other day to take it from CentreWeighted to Spot. However, up close like this and with someone moving as they sing and push the air out, the focus is a challenge. I am going to try it again - probably on Irene if she will cope with me.

So near, and yet so far! Welcome to my life... I take a lot of shots like this.

I suspect it's movement blur rather than focus though.

I wonder at what point we start to blame the camera?

I am really enjoying the variety of shots you have done of the singers.
