Julie (88/100) - Voice Master Class: the musical director

Jassen is a Conservatorium trained organist with a light baritone voice that he does not show off enough. He earns a frantic living combining wee jobbies all over the city - choirs of all sorts and private singing lessons.

He was much easier to photograph than the singers as he did not move as much although I have many images where the piano is in focus but his fingers a blur. There were fewer vantage points to photograph Jassen from as the piano was wedged in a corner and a side view was impacted by the light coming in the window. I still have some images of fingers on the piano that I might use on Sydney Eye. Depends what I find at the Nationals in Canberra tomorrow.

I like all of these, depending on what you are trying to show. Think the one I prefer is the 2nd small one.

Yes, I like that one too. Would have liked a bit more of the fingers. But it shows the entire sheet music, the keyboard and a little bit of Jassen.

"Bill" - the song?

Not sure, Letitia, but I think it is from Carousel. I will ask Margaret: it was her tune.

The Nationals? Is that the folk festival? I'll be really interested to know what that's like.

Yes, the folk festival in North Canberra. I will definitely go during Friday and maybe Saturday morning if I liked Friday.

I've been going to the Blue Mountains Folk Roots and Blues Festival (now called Music Festival) for several years and love it and have been wondering whether to try the Canberra one which is probably much bigger.

Bill was written in 1917 by Jerome Kern and eventually found its way into Showboat. It starts: I used to dream that I would discover
The perfect lover someday,
I knew I'd recognize him if ever
He came 'round my way.
