Peter 049 - Julian

17 June:

Well I'm home, and I have a couple of thousand photos to sift through, but thought I'd start with this one, even before I catch up on all the posts I've missed over the last month, and there are a few of them!

This is the same pic, maybe a slightly different crop, but using the raw file then processing it to taste. I think (hope) you'll see a better flesh tone, and hopefully the sky will look rather less artificial!

Julian is a delightful young Frenchman staying for a time in Toowoomba. We bumped into him at a friend's place and later in the day downtown, on his way to (what else) a French movie festival.

He's a nurseryman by trade, but in chilly Toowoomba he's working as an arborist, and simply infecting anyone he can with the joy of life.

I'm not sure how the colour is looking in real life, I'm working on my old steam laptop so it's a bit hard to tell. I may well have a bit of work when I get back, which might be an interesting exercise in itself.

IRL I think your skin tones are a bit too saturated. Not much, just a notch.

Vat iz dis "down town"? You mean "at the shops" don't you?

Look at that columned building on the RHS. Does it sell chish'n'fips?

I have yet to meet a professional plantsman who is not a wonderfully happy guy. Unless he raises roses.

Hey!
That's my home town.
And that looks like the corner of Margaret and Ruthven Sts.
My whole family lives there.
Did you see them??

The sky looks a bit off but that might be my monitor, or it might actually be that colour. I sometimes find your skin tones a little too saturated as well, although I think that is the way you like them.

The colours are rather weird, and I'll just have to put up with that till I get home to my proper machine. The monitor in my laptop is rather on it's last legs I'm afraid.

I am currently taking shots in both RAW and jpg, so will work on the raw versions when I get back and replace them, or place them side by side for comparison.

Could you put them side by side, I'd like to get an idea of the difference between RAW and JPG, as I've only shot JPG.
