Julie (9/100) - Attending summer school

Alyse was reading on a park bench in Victoria Park waiting for her Summer School at uni to resume after lunch. She goes into Year 12 this year which is a bit of a mountain for her. She is trying to keep her options open with regard to what she studies after High School. She is better at the sciences than the humanities. She would really love to travel though. Such a wonderful stamp of a lass ...

You've got that wonderful diagonal again, I love that.

I did not realise that I had done that until I looked just before your comment came through. What I wanted to show was her vulnerability - and I think I have done this with the softness of her neck and hair. When I get home, I will put up a couple of rejects as a comparison. I find that useful when Peter puts them up.

Me too, but yesterday's was a high mark.

How do we overcome the harshness of the sun? Big Flashguns?

I've used my camera's flash for every shot so far (except for tomorrow's), but that direct sunlight would beat it I think.

Two such totally different young people! It would have been nice if the sun here was dappled ... but I went out during my lunch hour! I am staying inside here all day today. Rotten outside at the moment. I am trying to get shots on the way to work to vary the impact of the sun.

I'm just trying to take a half way decent shot but when I get them up on screen I usually realise I have captured something more. I'm not going out today either, will try on the way home if I'm in the mood.

Mostly I have no idea what I have captured because I cannot think straight because of the thudding of my heart!

As I walk away, I pray to god that what I took was in focus ...
