Ann 34/100 - Sue

Sue runs the newsstand at the station. She was bemused but let me take her photo. I definitely have to get people to stay still for the p&s, trouble is you get a stilted shot.

What I normally do, is ask my subject if I can take some photos of them as they go about their usual work. Then I snap away and if I am patient enough I get spots where they are more still than others.

Not that mine are absolutely in focus ...

Don't beat yourself up too much about the P&S!

Have you tried pre-focussing? Sorry if I'm telling you how to suck eggs. Focus on something that's the same distance away by holding the shutter down half way, then keep it there until you are ready to take the photo.

The camera should be pretty much ready to fire. I'm not sure if the view in the LCD changes or not though, so you may have to guess a bit.

I think my flash diffuser gadget will work with P&S's as well. I hope neither of you are too embarrassed to walk around with a bit of recycling on your cameras!

The problem with the P&S is the slow response of the shutter. Even if I pre focussed by the time the shot is taken the subject has moved. Its a good little camera but it has its limitations and the slow response time would be the major one.
