Julie (123) - Beatrice singing melodiously
Beatrice would steal a glance every so often, but I was never quick enough! She is a member of The Sydney University Madrigal Society and they were out on the Eastern Avenue concourse on Student Election Day drumming up patronage for their upcoming concert which is a brief history of German musik.
Beatrice has a crystal clear first soprano voice and really dressed the part. I am impelled to attend their concert as a working journalist. Pffftt!!
I figure if I had this on F4 it would have blurred the chap in the second row into shiny pixels ...

I think it's fair to say the two of you are there!
The consistency you are both achieving is really something, particularly when one looks back just a few months.
Extraordinary!
At first I wasn't sure but then I decided that I like the lighting, even though her eyes are in shadow. Not at the stage yet of thinking about F stops, need to learn more first before I start applying it.
The saving grace for the lighting is the scallop around the shadow. I went to a Natural Portaiture all-day class on Saturday and it was mind-blowing. If I were to re-do this one of Beatrice I would now get the shadow lighter and keep shooting until I caught one of her shy glances up at me. I would have waited until I caught the little twitches that indicated that she wanted to know if I was still shooting. I felt like I was putting too much pressure on her. The concert the Maddie Society are giving is on Wed 27th so I hope to do better then. Will take my tripod too. Have you used your tripod yet? Must get me a remote this week.
Not yet. Too much else going on - blood tests, computer problems etc. Have put it up and down and played with the camera on it but need to get out at night which is why I got it - night shots. I hope its not too light for the camera.
This is a wonderful photo both for the colors and the composition. I really like the shadow across her eyes!
