Cara (020) Tom

Tom is a fascinating bloke with a great face. I sat and chatted to him for ages. World War Two broke out when he was just 4 years old and like thousands of other London kids he was given a new home and a new family in the country. His parents remained in London staying in the air raid shelters and tube stations and he ended up staying with the new family for 15 years.
My favourite picture is the bottom middle one - it captures his "default" look. My mother won't be thanking me for getting her in the background so I won't tell her and maybe she might not find out.

This is an overwhelmingly powerful set of portraits, Cara. His life and his character is writ large on that bedraggled face.

And you have done us proud by showing him so respectfully and with such tender regard.

Bravo!

I really like the one on the LHS where he is leaning on his hand. But I would say that, wouldn't I. His gaze is so melancholic.

On my Plumbing blog I have been having a running discussion about beauty.

Tim is the epitome of what I mean by beautiful.

Fantastic series Cara, Julie has left nothing to say really, except that he looks instantly Brit as well!

You've really captured something special here.

My favourite picture of Tom is the bottom right one. For a split second he doesn't look miserable, like there is a moment of calm in his expression. Of course, I am speaking from experience here, having known Tom virtually my whole life.

Unfortunately, Tom died on the 21st April 2010. It's very sad and he will be truly missed by a lot of people.

Tom was a grumpy git and could be very annoying, yet managed to be loved by everyone that he came into contact with... Quite a talent you had there Tom.

Here's to you, "my biggest fan". Lots of love.
