Julie (59/100) - Among antiquities

This is just the image I had in my head from the Nicholson Museum. However, being in focus would have been good!

I started with the diffuser and, thinking on my feet for about maybe the second time in this project, I took it off and shot with straight flash. Both were dark and cold and downright yucky.

Sarah was so cool - she called me papparizzi to someone who came in! Me!! Turns out she is a volunteer manning the reception for one of the museums on campus. I will take my tripod in next week and see if I can do better.

So to take this I set the ISO to 1600 which introduced the noise - I probably also had it on maximum zoom. Oh, woe is me ...

Here you go, Peter. This was labelled No. 1 so my guess is I had the diffuser on.

It's a shame it didn't come off. I love those rich interior colours that just arrive accidentally sometimes. They may all disappear along with incandescent lights and we'll have to get used to the rosy green glow of fluoro's.

Show me one with the flash!

Yep will show you the others this evening.

but but but ... I am going back to this same spot probably tomorrow or Thursday to see if I can get it right. Same with the image of Eleanor sitting in the Main Quad. Want to get that sort of image two fold right. Firstly the f/g in focus and then a second shot with the b/g in focus. Just to show ME that I can do it ...

I have a few images scheduled at the moment and so have the luxury of experimenting ...

it's amazing isn't it? All the richness from the background lighting is lost. There is a flash setting....
"rear curtain" is it?

Not sure, will have to read some more.

Thanks

I quite like this one, even with the blur, I think its those beautiful colours of the background.
