Julie (63/100) - MG2 - a la Grace Kelly

Pattie was in an arc of trannies permitting voyeurs to take their photos. I asked her if I may take one just of her: she was most gracious, and so softly spoken.

I have not taken a full head shot like this for weeks!

Also, I had attached the flash unit prior to walking down to the MG at about 6pm as I knew that there would be shadows on faces otherwise.

I really think that all that effort and experimentation over the last 60 shots is starting to show through consistently now.

I reckon you've made it to another rung on the ladder!

Whoever it was that decided 100 shots not 20 or 40 or 60 must be some sort of genius!

That means a lot to me. Peter. Thank you.

The 100 is inspired, I agree. I feel a great deal of freedom at the moment but still have miles to go (figuratively) before I sleep.

The astounding thing is that it is still so easy to fall back into old ways: to simply point and shoot. I spend a lot of time muttering to myself.

But ... I am enjoying this tremendously.

I'm glad!

Is it just my imagination, or is this exercise starting to impact on your CDP stuff as well? Thinking about the shot as well as the subject I mean?

There doesn't seem to be any turning back, does there?

Yes, I think it is starting to impact. I wondered when that would start to happen: indeed, despaired!

However, I now find myself stepping around, and back and even not going on with some shots. And often I will leave them for a few days to moulder in the back of my head before I can give them their rightful place.

This arvo at about 5, I am taking my daughter out for a tutorial on the 400D which she is now going to endeavour to come up to speed on. We are going to wander around an inner-cvity area - just off Oxford Street - which is called The Urban Village. Will be fascinating to see how we progress - and whether I find shots I like. Stay tooned ...

Well, that was a disaster ... we were totally thunderstormed out and repaired to Berkolouw's to discuss aperture, shutter speed, AWB, ISO da da da da da da ... she will pick it all up faster than I.

A friend of hers has just returned to the USA and they are thinking of keeping in touch via a daily post on a shared blog.

Ahh yes, I understand thunderstormed out!

Being forced to teach will accelerate your learning curve too. I works for me at least!

There are times like this when a full head shot is the perfect answer, anything else would have been excess.

Now why did I burst out laughing at Joan's remark ...
