Ann 78/100 - Malaika

Malaika, na kupenda Malaika. So sang the late great Miriam Makeba after whose song this little charmer is named. Malaika means angel in Swahili, na kupenda - I love you.

With a Ghanian musician father (who unfortunately wasn't there that night) and a blond Australian mother who also sings, she's likely to be a heartbreaker when she grows up, especially if she's got the musicality that's inherent in so many Africans. She wasn't too sure about having her photo taken.

Your feature photograph is just gorgeous. She really has a gorgeous smile and the tutu is stunning. Was this outside the OH?

Foyer of the concert hall, in the bar area. It was pissing down outside. First time I've worn jeans rolled up to my knees, boots and a gortex jacket to the OH.

Had to giggle at the mental picture that presents! My DD and I went to see Graeme Murphy's Firebird interpretation there on Saturday night. Very mild weather on the way in ... but raining when we go out.
