Ann 100/100 - Paul

I decided to keep my favourite (and I think possibly the best) for last. Looking back I've come a long way in the past few months, both in skill and in confidence. I can't thank Julie enough for persuading me to join and Peter for his encouragement and technical advice. Thank you everyone who has taken the time to criticise and comment.

Like Julie I intend to keep going, I've still got some more to put up and will keep looking for interesting people in my wanderings, certainly when I travel.
When I started I wasn't sure how this project would be useful in my normal photography, usually done while travelling. This last series, taken on Anzac Day, has shown me exactly how I'll use it.

My favourites over the last 100 -
There are others that I like almost as much and they are all my babies but these would be my favourites.

Yeah-hah!! You've done it!!

Well done, kiddo ... I am so very very chuffed. When I think of your hesitations during those first few emails ... wu-hoo ... what an achievement. I am pleased that you, too, are going to continue but at a lesser break-neck speed.

Now to this wee beautie. He sure is a find. Did you find him on ANZAC Day? That was a water-shed that day, wasn't it? Yes, he works wonderfully in B&W and the stucco wall is just great. It will probably not surprise you if I say that I prefer the second one: I love that wee hint of enjoyment, but it is the hands that do it for me. They are drop-dead gorgeous.

Once again, congrats on making the target. Let's power on now, shall we. See you at the course this evening.

Forgot to comment on your list of favourites ...

I think the Delia&Hero ones in Adelaide are quite superb. Jenna took courage and the lighting is spot on. I will go through as today progresses and look at them ...

It was a toss up between the first and the second ones. It was taken on ANZAC Day. The variety of subjects available was wonderful. I still have a few left from Anzac Day and some from the Macedonian Wedding, probably enough for another couple of weeks. Just need to have a close look at them, fix if necessary and get them up.

Just realised his name: Paul. He does not look like a Paul! What do you think his ethnicity is: nepalese? cambodian? Hard to tell, isn't it?

I have a few that I have collected over the last week and will put up over the weekend: just wanted today to be singular though.

Grand feeling isn't it. To achieve this aim. To actually persevere at something that is so difficult ...

Congratulations Ann and what a marvelous shot for your 100. He is not only an interesting character but you have done a superb job with the photography. I am in awe with what you guys have achieved through this project.

He is from Byron Bay and described himself as the "last of the fuzzy wuzzies", however when I asked him if he was from PNG or an islander he said he was Indigenous Australian. Interesting character, not quite a lost soul but certainly not part of the mainstream of society. The woman with him looked equally interesting but I felt that she would likely not cooperate so didn't ask.

He definitely doesn't look like a Paul. For some reason I kept thinking his name was Billy until I looked at my notes.

This is indeed a portrait and I'm glad I came by to help you celebrate your 100th. Julie has linked my 100 Strangers journey to your page and I am slowly working my way backwards here, learning as I go. I see that there are so many ways to photograph people, even from above, that accurately onveys who they are. I'm a forever fan of everyone's work.

This got an out-loud "wow" from me. Congratulations, Ann. It's been great watching your photography develop (so to speak) and look forward to your next batch! My mission starts when I get to London on the last week of this month. Thanks for sticking with it and inspiring me to have another crack at it.

Ann, I am in awe of this post's photos and all your other strangers. And of your brave approach to all those people.
A hundred already?!
You all did a great job of working together to the goal. Glad you will be keeping up the good work.
Thanks for sharing your fine people.

Ann that's a fantastic shot to finish up with! It's been a real joy to play with you both, I hope you too will stick around as I suffer through the rest of them!

I really do appreciate your comments too!

Do you think this shot is the culmination of all you've experienced over the past 500, or (without being rude) just another one that worked really well?

cheers!

Congratulations on your 100th photograph. And what a great portrait too. He's a cool guy. Love to hear him playing.

I know I've already said I like this photo, but I didn't say that I like it so much I hesitated before adding a post above it!
